Fromsoftware Ringtones

Did you know that Fromsoftware used to have promotional ringtones? Well, I sure hope Fromsoftware forgot, because re-hosting them like this might be dangerous hehe.

They're available on older versions of Fromsoftware's website, particularly the i-mode version of the site - formatted for Japanese mobile phones, and hosted different things than the main site.

These things include tiny postcards, tiny images, tiny gifs, tiny messages from the promotional team, and.... Ringtones! You can check out many more ringtones on their site archives through the Wayback Machine, but I've compiled a few of them into Youtube videos.

The ringtones themselves aren't in usual audio formats either. They are downloadable in .mld format, which you can open with Yamaha's .mld Authoring Tool. If you wanna try them out yourself, I think the ringtones filed under DP and SO work, but not FN. I used the program to play the ringtones back, and the recorded it with Audacity. And now, I wake up every morning to the sound of Lost Kingdoms.

By the way, if you'd like to listen to this on a truly advanced mobile phone emulator, I have created the Fromsoft Wii Phone where you can "dial" a button to play one of the ringtone videos listed below.

The buttons correspond to a certain video... You'll have to click around to get the hang of it, just like a true Fromsoftware game. Check it out!

drawing of katia sitting down, knees splayed, happily listening to a red flip phone. there are symbols of excitement emanating off the phone. the background is a red fluid texture, taken from lost kingdoms' battle skybox.

Lost Kingdoms Music - Main Theme (Ringtone version)

Lost Kingdoms (2002)

Did you know FromSoftware used to have a mobile site? Not like a website for smartphones, but a site formatted specifically for 2000s Japanese mobile phones! It contained little gifs, images, postcards, messages from the company, and most interestingly... ringtones! It's available to view on the Wayback Machine but I linked it above already man i wish i didn't have to use the wayback because archive yadda yadda.

This is a ringtone version of Lost Kingdoms' main theme, abridged and originally downloaded in the DoCoMo cell phone ringtone format, .mld. The file was opened in Yamaha's .mld Authoring Tool and recorded off the computer using Audacity. The art of Queen Katia on her flip phone is drawn by me. Please enjoy!

Lost Kingdoms 2 Music - Intro Theme (Ringtone version)

Lost Kingdoms II (2003)

This is a ringtone version of Lost Kingdoms 2's intro theme, originally downloaded in the DoCoMo cell phone ringtone format, .mld. The file was opened in Yamaha's .mld Authoring Tool and recorded off the computer using Audacity. The art of Tara Grimface not knowing how to use a phone is drawn by me. Please enjoy!

By the way, I have no idea if an image of the LK2 logo exists with the runestone behind it. I just superimposed it over LK's logo :P

cookie and cream on the moon (which has a face and craters consistent with cookie and cream lore) in space, the two of them sitting against a mochi pestle. cream is angrily holding her flip phone, while cookie is busy in conversation with someone on his cell phone. the moon's face is to the side of cream, watching them both with a smile.

The Adventures of Cookie and Cream - Jungle World (Ringtone version)

The Adventures of Cookie & Cream (2000)

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! What better way than to celebrate with our love-to-hate-them exiled bunnies on the moon?

This is a ringtone version of The Adventure of Cookie & Cream's Jungle World (not the DS remake!) theme, originally downloaded in the DoCoMo cell phone ringtone format, .mld. The file was opened in Yamaha's .mld Authoring Tool and recorded off the computer using Audacity. The art of Cookie and Cream on their cell phones is drawn by me... Wonder who they're talking to?
BTW, the story behind many Mid-Autumn festivals around the world have two bunnies on the moon. Or sometimes a bamboo forest. Or something, a pretty flying lady. Or all three! Enjoy a slice of mooncake, and check it out!

ruyan putting his arms around darius and faeana, holding them tight in a sidehug. everyone is smiling with eyes closed, darius's smile more serene, ruyan with droopy eyebrows, and faeana almost laughing. in the background is the yellow-brown dandelion field, with dandelions floating in the air, and the figure of two people vaguely in the back.

Forever Kingdom - Karmyla's Music Box (Ringtone)

Forever Kingdom/Evergrace 2 (2001)

Happy birthday to Evergrace 2, known as Forever Kingdom overseas! Today is its 21st birthday in Japan. I've actually had this video idea in the works since I beat the game a... Year ago? Two years now? Well, I have AE again, so I could finally comp it and I'm really happy with how it came out. Oh my god how time flies.

This is a ringtone version of FK's title theme, but I also think it sounds like Karmyla's music box.. Which is probably on purpose. If there's one Evergrace track that could feasibly be turned into some ringtone and still sound recognizable, it'd be the simple and sweet melody of that precious, sisterly treasure.

I drew the art of everyone happily enjoying the Dandelion Field, and cropped the logo... From somewhere... May Darius, Ruyan, and Faeana all be happy and healthy.

NOTE: The title of the video has been changed to reflect the listing on the Fromsoftware site itself. It's called "Evergrace 2 music box version" there, so I took that and made it a little less generic. Why did I think it was specifically the title theme, anyways?

It's also called "Music From The Bottom of The Lake" in LINEOUT.LAND's unofficial soundtrack rip. Which is amazing and you should listen to it, thank you. Thank you very much to CyanPlaza for notifying me!

Armored Core 3 - Artificial Sky (Ringtone)

Armored Core 3 (2002)

I FINALLY GOT AFTER EFFECTS BACK AGAIN FINALLY I CAN POST THIS

The image in the video is a wallpaper from Fromsoftware's "ARMORED CORE 3 SILENT LINE" desktop theme, something they gave out on their website many years back.

The logo is sourced from the Gaming Alexandria.

Special thanks to my friend Freyja for identifying this track for me, by the way! She likes AC a lot.
