Fontraile, a continent formed by the alliance of four villages, is on the path to logging the Billiana Forest. However, one of the four villages strongly oppose this plan - the village of Morea. The people of Morea worship the Billiana trees as a sacred existence, but despite their protests, the plans for logging refuse to stop for a moment. As Fontraile forcibly escalates their plans, so does Morea's opposition gradually rise, and armed conflict awaits them at last.
Darius carries with him heavy reasons to fight against Morea, for his parents were slain by Morean assassins. He throws himself into the war with total destruction as his goal...
A story not told in the game, follow Darius's path from childhood to becoming one of the Four Swordsmen of Solta in this official prequel to Fromsoftware's Evergrace.
Thank you to Erika, Cookie, Fufu, and Reppa who helped with wording. Special super awesome thanks to Saria for helping with proofreading, and Saria’s Mom who helped Saria who helped me with proofreading. Even though she said it was mid.
And funny release trailer below:
Evergrace - Those Who Bear the Crest (エヴァーグレイス クレストを負いし者) is a light novel authored by Mie Takase and published by MediaWorks in 2000. It is a prequel to the PS2 game Evergrace, but takes place after Forever Kingdom (Evergrace 2), the game prequel to Evergrace. Is that confusing? It probably is, because that's Deepest Lore for you.
Roughly, it's about the Fontraile army pursuing one of Morea's last army commanders - a young woman by the name of Lestea. A mysterious woman both revered and hated, she has a link to Darius that goes deep into their respective childhoods... A link that has made her bloodthirsty for his death. Speaking of childhoods, it goes into Darius's quite deeply, showing how he feels about the people around him - and his very first meeting with Ruyan.
And Sharline is there too of course. *thunderous applause*
You may know Mie Takase as the author of the Kirby novels, as well as the author of many game novelizations from Shin Megami Tensei to Suikoden. She also wrote the scenario for Forever Kingdom, and many characters from the game also play major roles in the light novel. There is also a special interview between Mie Takase and Masanori Takeuchi (Evergrace's producer) at the end of the light novel.
There are also many illustrations by Evergrace character designer and artist Ken Sugawara, but they're not included in this PDF - feel free to check out the gallery here, including a character sheet, the front/back cover, and more. The greyscale chapter illustrations are included in this PDF though. They're nothing to scoff at, either.
An English translation will happen one day... I'm still resting from the novel, okay?
Just kidding it's done now. Go forth and read
Happy reading! Here's the link to the scans on Google Drive.
BTW here's the original tweet that accomapnied the scans:
"For a moment, the flame was dyed a glowing green, as if a precious jewel - and in the next, it settled back to its orange, original flame."
