Angel is the centerfold
300 dpi-ish scans fresh from the Fromsoft Press, a newspaper styled marketing brochure from Fromsoftware talking about their latest news from Tokyo Game Show 2000 Spring, as well as a celebration of Evergrace's upcoming release.
As such, it includes a huge article on Evergrace with other corners about Armored Core 2, 1/4 (yes, that One Fourth!), and Eternal Ring. It's even got a little shoutout to King's File, the KF-themed fax service!
And most importantly, every copy of Fromsoft Press volume 1 comes with an illustration of Sharline. How can I be mad? I just wonder if there were more issues after this?
I probably won't translate the entire pamphlet but I can give out a (terrible) summary of each page. So in order:
Fromsoftware's booth at the famous Makuhari Messe had a DJ as well as info on the PS2 games to come. In the booth was a huge screen showcasing the latest and greatest news from the company, named the... FROM Vision. I guess. Eternal Ring and Evergrace were on there, with ER just being released last month. Evergrace was surprisingly popular with young famililes and women! This demo version of EG had an abundance of outfits on it, and people had a lot of fun with the dressup. Darius with a pot on his head, and Sharline was cat ears was the most popular combo. There's a caption that says "The Playstation 2 has the power to portray the curves of the female body - as in the case of Sharline, the female protagonist from Evergrace" or something like that. <- most rectangular girl in the world
Armored Core 2 revs up! There were 3 parts of the area - a place to try out two missions from the game, a section to play 1-on-1 with someone in VS mode, and a tournament section? Or maybe it's the arena? It looks like whoever won two rounds got a pinset of EG, ER, and AC2 pins that you see on secondhand sites sometimes. AC2's producer was there for a Q&A and met with many players for a kind of meet and greet.
And then a new title?! What is this? It's 1/4, or pronounced One Fourth! Spearheaded by Nozomu Iwai, it's a fantasy world where you control 4 characters at the same time, go to a bunch of worlds, beat the demon king and all that. The caption says that even though the game looks cutesy, it's a 3D Musou that only the power of the Playstation 2 could bring. Something like that. I like the booth women's dresses.
One more article about Eternal Ring, lovingly called Fromsoftware's first foray on the PS2, and how the album for the OST is now out! Yay! I hope it doesn't get a Taiwanese bootleg release that ends up in a secondhand Canadian bookoff located in BC!
Oh, and don't forget the little corner on Fromsoftware's website and King's File, their official King's Field fax service. So jealous.
The second wave of PS2 releases. Evergrace. The sunlight stretches into the thin slivers between the trees, as leaves flutter to the ground, clothes, too, fluttering in the breeze. Yadda yadda wow it's Evergrace will everything be revealed once the two protagonists meet again and get home in time for dinner? Contains two parallel stories, with a summary of both scenarios, a highlight on the fun dressup, and Palmira Actions, yadda you know it that's all. Really interesting that it also gives a shoutout to the game guides and the hardcover novelization too.
Well, that's about it. The above summaries may not be entirely accurate though so hmu if you want more clarity.
